      Skiathos
Skiathos is a Greek island in the western Aegean Sea, part of the Northern Sporades archipelago. Its capital, the town of Skiathos, sits on two hills dotted with picturesque little churches and a clock tower. The island is famous for Koukounaries beach, whose sand glitters thanks to microscopic particles of mica. Here too stands the historic monastery of Evangelistria, where the Greek flag was designed in 1807. The best time to visit is summer, when temperatures reach 30°C.
